Alvarez Gomez Fight Video

Play Video Play Video
Canelo Alvarez will fight Alfonso Gomez in "Star Power" undercard. See video of the highlights of Alvarez, undoubtedly Mexico's most popular fighter, who just turned 21s this week. This will be his second defense as the fight will be held on Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sept. 17. The Alvarez Gomez Fight Video will be shown below.

While Alvarez-Gomez will headline a card at the Staples Center, the fight will be shown as part of a split-site pay-per-view show on which Floyd Mayweather's return to action against Victor Ortiz after a a 16-month layoff to challenge welterweight titlist will headline a card in the HBO pay per view at the MGM Grand.

Schaefer said the telecast will open in Las Vegas, where 22-year-old junior welterweight prospect Jessie Vargas, a Mayweather protege from Las Vegas, will fight an opponent to be announced in a 10-rounder. Vargas (16-0, 9 KOs) opened eyes when he scored a sensational second-round knockout against veteran Walter Estrada on July 8.
The show will stay in Las Vegas for the next fight, the previously announced junior welterweight bout between Mexican star and former three-division champion Erik Morales, who will face fellow Mexican Pablo Cesar Cano (21-2, 9 KOs).

Gomez (23-4-2, 12 KOs), 30, lives in Southern California, but he is also from Alvarez's hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico, which ought to add some spice to the promotion.

Gomez, who starred on the first season of "The Contender" reality series, parlayed his fame from the show into a high-profile fight with the late Arturo Gatti and sent him into retirement with a seventh-round knockout in 2007.

Gomez lost his only previous title shot, a fifth-round knockout to then-welterweight titlist Miguel Cotto in 2008. But he has won five fights in a row after losing to Cotto.

Morales vs Cano Fight - Video, Analysis and More

Play Video Play Video
living legend Erik Morales will fight Pablo Cesar Cano, an unbeaten 21-year-old fellow Mexican. Video of the fight will be shown on September 17 “Star Power” show. “El Terrible” supposed bout with Argentine slugger Lucas Mattyhsse was cancelled after the latter pulled out of the ue to a virus. Cano will be the replacement opponent for the vacant WBC 140-pound belt.

Cano last fought in June and reportedly is in shape, say Golden Boy. Cano said “just bring him on,” when the fight with Morales was offered to him. The young fighter never fought the caliber of the likes of Morales and this will be his first time to fight outside of Mexico.

The question will be how he can handle the pressure performing in front of a large crowd. Now, with Golden Boy having done their best to find a short notice late replacement, Morales can focus his attention towards the 22-0-1(17) contender from Mexico City.

Perez is confident that his ward has all the tools to defeat Morales. Having twice trained Barrera to beat Morales, and also having worked with Marcos Maidana in his recent win over the 35-year-old great, Perez feels he will be able to come up with the perfect game-plan for his young fighter after reviewing video of Morales' fights. But it goes without saying how Cano is no Barrera or Maidana.

Maybe Cano, with his advantages in acceleration and reflexes, will be able to cull off an absolute agitated abutting week; possibly catastrophe the career of a fable in the process? It could happen. And Golden Boy accept at atomic appear up with a adolescent and best fighter for Morales. Given the abbreviate amplitude of time in which they had to work, the promoters could’ve done a lot worse.

Cano is realistically in a no-lose position. If he loses the action but acquits himself well, he will get due acclaim and be able to appear afresh at age 21, while if he wins, he hit’s the jackpot. Not alive abundant of annihilation about the fighter accepted as “El Demoledor,” it’s boxy to accomplish any affectionate of authentic pre-fight prediction. I accept to go with Morales, seeing as how he has every advantage afar from youth.

Erik Morales vs Matthysse Fight Video

Play Video Play Video
Mexican legend Erik Morales will fight Lucas Matthysse on Sept. 17. Many are excited to watch the video of a potential barn burner fight. Being the last man to beat Manny Pacquiao, Morales is one of five Mexican fighters to have earned title belts in three divisions and his name in the boxing history books is already secured.

But during a national conference call on Wednesday to promote his upcoming clash with hard-punching Lucas Matthysse, the aging fighter found himself defending his right to be in such a high-profile matchup.

"People always say, 'Oh, Erik Morales is old,' and I hear it," said Morales, speaking through a translator. "The one thing that’s true is that when you do things right and you don’t cut corners, things come out [well.] The result is there and you’ll see it Sept. 17." Morales-Matthysse was sanctioned as a title fight after the WBC stripped Tim Bradley (27-0, 11 knockouts) of its belt.

The eventual winner of Morales-Matthysse will likely face WBA and IBF titleholder Amir Khan (26-1, 18 KOs) in December. Khan, Morales and Matthysse are all managed by Golden Boy Promotions. Morales (51-7, 35 KOs) is trying to become become the first Mexican to win a title in a fourth weight division. "I think that it's OK that they [WBC officials] are giving me this opportunity because of my past, and my history and my past fights. I think think that it's a valid [decision,]" said Morales, 34.

"The odds were 7 to 1 against me, and everybody thought that I was going to get smashed and walked over," said Morales. "But I was always motivated, and I always knew in my mind what I had to do to win it." Against Matthysse, however, Morales plans to pick up where he left off against Maidana.

"We've always liked challenges. We've always liked difficult fights. That's the reason the Matthysse fight was decided on. He's a very strong, very formidable opponent," said Morales. "You know, people have always thought that they're going to finish me and end my career and knock me out. But that's what gives me the hunger, the strength and the motivation to prove them wrong."

Watch the Pacquiao vs Mosley fight below"

Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao will fight Sugar Shane Mosley on May 7, 2011 as announced by Top Rank promoter, Bob Arum which was aired on news video. The said fight will take place in Las Vegas. Arum says Pacquiao chose the bout because Mosley is the most accomplished and famous boxer in the short list of candidates, which included Juan Manuel Marquez and welterweight champion Andre Berto.

Arum said that Mosley is the most recognizable name and will be a difficult fight for Manny Pacquiao. Arum who met with Pacquiao before making the fight. There are also rumors that people are saying that Pacquiao hasn't fought an African-American fighter that's why he agreed to do this fight but the main reason is because Mosley is the biggest name and will be the bigger pay per view draw.

Pacquiao was recently criticized by Golden Boy co-owner, Bernard Hopkins, of not fighting African American fighters. In this fight, Pacquiao will be facing a fighter who can match his speed compared to the other fighters he has faced in the past. One question in this fight though will be Mosley's age. He's still a solid fighter but he is past his prime notably in his last fight. Mosley already fought Mayweather who he almost knocked down.

Whatever the reason for this fight, while we wait for Mayweather to gather his balls and finally let the world know who really is the best between him and the Pacman, this fight will serve as a barometer how Manny will be able to fight someone who is as quick and powerful as him.

UFC 129 Aldo vs Hominick Fight Video

Watch the exciting and bloody fight between Jose Aldo and Mark Hominick! What a strike-fest of a fight! Watch the video below:

Play UFC 129 Aldo vs Hominick Fight Video

Jose Aldo recently defeated Urijah Faber and knocked out Manny Gamburyan in his latest bout before being injured. Aldo is reknowned striker in Muay Thai usually taking out his oppenents with a barrage of punches, knee strikes and sharp elbows. In his first UFC title defense, he will go up against the dangerous Mark Hominick, whos recent wins includes Yves Jabouin, Leonard Garcia and George Roop. Hominick has fought at both Featherweigh and Lightweight during his professional career. He has appeared in many organizations including the Affliction and WEC.

I think this will be an easy victory for Jose Aldo and I'm not really impressed with Hominick's credentials but nevertheless we can expect Hominick to give Aldo some more highlight footage in an already impressive knockout reel.

UFC 129 is already sold out and this will be a great exposure to both Aldo and Hominick who might be fighting in the biggest card of their career.

UFC 129 is headlined by Canadian Georges St. Pierre versus the American Jake Shields. St. Pierre is fresh from his latest title defense, winning a unanimous decision against Josh Koscheck. Shields had a tough outing against UFC veteran Martin Kampmann that showed some holes in the cardio (which maybe the result of cutting down from 185 to 170 lbs) of the former Strikeforce champ. St. Pierre is expected to keep the fight standing and using his vast arsenal of strikes to keep Shields from taking him down and enforcing his ground game advantage.

Shields is a Caesar Gracie BJJ Black belt and is known to train with the Diaz brothers and Gilbert Melendez. Before coming in the UFC, Shields fought at Middleweight and fought against Dan Henderson which he won impressively.

UFC champ St Pierre showcased his potent jab against Koscheck, nullifying the former division 1 and national champs chances in taking the fight to the ground. This probably will be the same tactic he will use against Jake Shields, who we all know, will be looking to take him down and use his jiu-jitsu to strangle him in submission.

UFC 129 Couture vs Machida

Watch the last fight of Randy Couture against the karate style of Lyoto Machida in the video below:

Play Couture vs Machida Fight Video

Hall of Famer Randy Couture will face the unorthodox karate style of Lyoto Machida in a feature fight in UFC 129. Watch the interviews and preview video of the fight to be shown soon. Couture whose recent victory was against boxer James Toney. Machida is coming of a two fight losing skid.

Machida recently fought Rampage Jackson who handed him his second straight loss in the Octagon. The karate master desperately needs a win to stay relevant in the light heavyweight division. Randy Couture who's extra curricular activities includes acting. This is a very challenging fight for Couture and it will be interesting what gameplan he has for the elusive style of Machida. I expect that Lyoto will be more aggresive against Couture after a lackluster performance against Rampage Jackson. Couture however will look to clinch and use his wrestling to take the fight to the ground and control Machida. Basically, almost the same plan he used when he fought Brandon Vera.

Cotto vs Mayorga Fight Video

Play Video Play Video
Watch the exciting fight between Miguel Cotto and Ricardo Mayorga below.

Cotto and Mayorga face off against each other at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Both fighters lost two out of their last five fights. Cotto lost by brutal knockouts in the hands of pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao and the tornado from Tijuana in Antonio Margarito.

Mayorga also lost getting knocked out by Oscar dela Hoya and Shane Mosley. So these two fighters have a lot in common. They lost to topnotch fighters and they lost in brutal fashions. Fight fans around the world will see which of them will rise despite the aforementioned setbacks. Whoever wins this fight will prove that he's still got it and deserves to be there among the world's top pugilists. God knows what's in store for whoever loses.

In a recent interview Don King said "It think it's a very exciting fight, something explosive, because Mayorga and Cotto, they create excitement, Mayorga's only real opponent has been himself. But he's a very talented guy and he creates excitement. People want to know: Which Mayorga will they see? He's on the comeback trail, but he's still loco, still crazy, still the crazy man."

Cotto and Mayorga have only one common opponent - the Great Sugar Shane Mosley. As anyone who follows boxing knows, common opponents between fighters are not very reliable in indicating the outcome of a certain fight. We all know that. Still it's worth pointing out that Cotto won against Mosley via unanimous decision while Mayorga got knocked out in the final round by Mosley. Both fights were very competitive so it's very interesting to know how Cotto and Mayorga will fare against each other come fight night.

Shogun Rua vs Jon Jones Fight Video

Lightheavyweight champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua will fight top contender Jon "Bones" Jones in UFC 128. Watch the explosive "Fight of The Year" bout between Shogun and Jones From the video below:

This will be an tough fight for Jones who haven't faced a striker in the caliber of Shogun. For the reigning champ, it will be interesting how they will prepare a game plan for an unorthodox fighter like Jones. Shogun has already proven he can beat a fighter with such a unique style when he demolished Lyoto Machida, who like Jones, have been unbeaten before facing the champ.

Jones might be a tougher opponent than Machida because of his length and athleticism. Shogun attacked Machida from the outside using his Muay Thai kicks but if he uses this against Jones he might be taken down and expect elbows to rain down if that happens. Whatever the outcome, this is destined to be one of the most anticipated match ups of the year.

Jones vs Bader Fight Video UFC 126

Jon "Bones" Jones will fight Ryan "Darth" Bader in UFC 126. The two up and coming light heavyweights are currently on a roll both winning most of their fights in the UFC. Jones style is very unorthodox with his strikes and wrestling. Watch the video below:

He's one of those fighters that are very hard to train for because of their specialized movements. Bader is more straightforward relying on his punching power and wrestling protege to defeat his opponents. The Ultimate Fighter Alumni based on Arizona has recently put up his own gym, Power MMA Gym, together with Aaron Simspon and C.B. Dolloway. Bader's octagon record consists of victories over Keith Jardine, Eric Schafer, Carmelo Marrero and Vinny Magalhaes. This is an important fight since the winner of this bout will be surely catapulted to title contender status. I'm pushing for Jones to win this one and I think he will be a great match-up against current champ, Mauricio Shogun Rua.
